During their STEM Unit in Library Class, the 6th graders created a unique board game that featured beginner math skills. They had to use coding and engineering (including 3D printing) to create these games. Yesterday, the 6th graders invited the Kindergarten and 1st grade classes to play their board games! Everyone had lots of fun... great job 6th grade!

Today, the officers of National Honor Society delivered 135 toys to Dwell in Williamsport for their pop-up Christmas shop benefitting foster and adoptive families. These toys included Squishmallows, Barbies, board games, Play-doh, and water wow books collected by MAHS clubs for NHS’s annual Clubs for a Cause event. In addition to helping deliver and unpack their donations, NHS got a tour of Dwell’s Hope Chest and learned about Dwell’s mission in the community. Many thanks to FFA, Virtuoso, Broadcasting, Student Council, Leo Club, Environmental Club, Sign Language Club, and the life skills class for their help to make this important donation possible.

HS Students of the Month

Week 8 Athlete of the Week - Trace Furman - Football
After missing his freshman campaign with a serious injury, Trace worked hard and battled back to make a tremenous impact on the varsity football team this year. He shined on both sides of the ball. He finished the year with 107 tackles on the defensive side of the ball. Saturday he had 60 yards rushing and 22 yards receiving while finding the end zone twice! He also had 12 tackles.
Coach Tice- "Trace is an incredibly hard working young man and always prepared. His preparation shows by his performance on the field on both sides of the ball."
Great season Trace!

Week 7 Athlete of the Week - Lily Burchell - Soccer and Cheer
Lily participated in both girls soccer and varsity cheer this fall season. Her coaches had this to say about her:
Coach Lounsbury - "Lily is a consistent force on the defensive line for the team. She is a strategic player with passion for the game that gives her an aggressive edge over many of her opponents. Lily works hard to become a better player both on and off the field making her an extremely valuable player for our team."
Coach Aicher - " Lily is a strong example of a true student-athlete. She puts academis as a top priority but is also a team player doing whatever she can to make the team better as a whole. She encourages her teammates, participates in extra events outside of games and practices that benefit the team, and is constantly learning how to be better at her repsective sports. She is passionate about the sports she is involved in, and I am so proud of all that she has learned this season in her first year of varsity cheer."
Way to go Lily!

What a tremendous start to the 2024-25 school year for our athletic programs. First, thank you all for your support to the students and coaches throughout the fall season. This marks the first time in school history to anyone's knowledge that each of our teams qualified for the district playoffs. Here is a quick synopsis of each team:
Golf - The golf team captured the 2024 Mid Penn League title for the second season in a row. They finished 10-2 in the league and 13-9 overall. Liam Adams was selected as the league MVP and Coach Cloud was named "Coach of the Year!" They finished 12th in the district championships.
Girls Tennis - The girls finished 12-3 during the regular season and continued their streak of qualifying for the district team tournament. They finished second in the league with a 4-2 record and earned the #5 seed in the district team tournament. They fell to a solid Danville team in the first round. First year player, Cali Barnes advanced to the quarterfinals of the individual tournament before she lost to the eventual district runner-up.
Girls Soccer - A historical year for the girls' soccer program as they qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2007. The girls ended the regular season 10-8 and lost in the first round of the district playoffs to Sullivan County. Zoe Furman was selected as Mid-Penn first team all-star.
Boys Soccer - The boys soccer team made it back-to-back appearances in the district playoffs after finishing the season 10-8. They earned the #5 seed in the class A playoffs and fell in the first round to Southern Columbia. The boys had 3 first team all-star selections in Dylan Sherman, Dylan Hill, and Damaj Stewart-Williams.
XC - John Shrimp was the solo member of the team this year but had an outstanding season. John ran in the class A boys' championships and finished 12 overall in the race. He missed qualifying for the state tournament by 2 positions.
Football - The best season since the early 2000s, the football team finished the regular season 7-3. They finished 5-1 in the NTL small school division and ended up second in the standings behind Muncy. The team lost a hard-fought game last Saturday night to Line Mountain in the first round of the district playoffs. Coy Bryson ended the season with over 1500 yards rushing and Trace Furman and Cam Woltz both eclipsed the 100 tackle mark.
BAND and CHEER - A huge shout out to the band and cheer for their excellent performances and display of school spirit during our fall sports season! Thank you for keeping RAIDER NATION engaged during all of our events!
