Hello Juniors and Senior Parents/Guardians,
You are invited to attend a FREE financial aid workshop on Wednesday, October 16th from 5:00-6:00 p.m. If your son/daughter is planning to attend technical school, community college, college or university next year you will most likely be looking for financial aid. Please consider attending this important program. This year it will be offered at Muncy High School. You will enter the lobby doors on Schuyler Avenue or the doors that open to the parking lot between the building and the tennis courts/football fields. Directions to the auditorium will be on the doors.
Students and parents should be in attendance at the program in order to help everyone understand the process of applying for financial aid.

Cheer - Briella Walk
Briella Walk is an exceptional athlete! She balances her schedule with work, cheer, and marching band. This past week she was committed to helping the team develop our pep rally routine and Shoe Bon Fire performance. Above all else, Brie is a positive and encouraging team player who always wants the best for her teammates.

Golf - Olivia Walk
The golf coaches would like to recognize Olivia Walk for her commitment to the team and improved play over the last few years. During her last few matches, she not only qualified for match play, but also played well enough for her score to be counted for the Red Raiders. During her final conference match, she shot a 54 at Belles Springs which allowed her to play in the District IV qualifier last week at White Deer. Olivia shot a 115 and missed qualifying for the district tournament but she still had an outstanding season!

Girls Soccer - Aleaha Grimm
The coaches would like to recognize Aleaha for not only her outstanding play, but also her positive voice on the team. She has been a positive leader in the midfield for the girls soccer team, and has used effective communication skills during the games. Aleah shined during the Sullivan County game as well, helping the team defeat Sullivan 7-6. She had multiple goals and assists , which helped the team get redemption on the Griffins after losing to them the first time around.
Way to go Aleaha!
Boys Soccer - Damaj Stewart Williams
Damaj was a late addition to the roster but has made an immediate impact for the Red Raiders. As a central defensive back, he is tasked with coordinating defensive coverage in our defensive third. This includes everything on the ground and in the air. Above the playing surface is where Damaj excels scoring his first two goals of the season off corner kick services in wins over Meadowbrook Christian and Williams Valley. He is a great leader on the field, motivating his teammates to be better and bringing out the best in them. Damaj is also one of the fastest players on the field every match and possesses the ability to go the entire 80 minutes when called upon.

Tennis - Carly Hall
The coaches want to recognize Carly Hall as the #2 Singles for Athlete of the Week. This last week, she has shown resilience, hard work, and dedication to her team. She won all her matches and found things to work on for herself, but she also found time to help her teammates. She has been working hard since summer practices to be her best.

Week 5 Athlete of the Week - John Shrimp - Cross Country
John competed every week during the early season and has been improving his time. He has finished in the top 10 in every meet with his highest finish being runner-up at Sullivan County. John finished 52nd out of 307 competitors over the weekend at Bloomsburg University. He also recently broke the school record by over one full minute, running a time of 18:08.

Week 4 Athlete of the Week - Coy Bryson - Varsity Football
Congratulations to Coy Bryson who has had a tremendous season thus far for the Red Raiders. Against previously unbeaten Wyalusing, Coy rushed for 167 yards on 24 carries and scored 2 TDs to help carry the team to a 28-3 victory over the Rams. Coy is currently 4th in the Sun Gazette area in rushing. He has 785 yards and 7 touchdowns!

Congratulations to this week’s Artist of the Week, junior, Gabi Calderon. For the first time since the school has started acknowledging artists each week, Gabi represents a nomination in each category represented; band,, musical theatre, and visual arts. Gabi is in Color Guard for the Marching Band and is a great example to all those in her section. She brings a positive energy and work ethic to every rehearsal and performance. Gabi is equally strong in the Virtuoso program. She has earned several solo and dance features in the upcoming fall show and is always prepared with her own materials as well as being willing to help and encourage others. In the visual arts, Gabi prefers the watercolor, acrylic, and colored pencil mediums and often works in the art room when she finishes assignments for other classes. Congratulations on all your artistic successes, Gabi, and thank you for dedicating yourself to promotion of the arts in our district.

Progress reports for the first quarter have been uploaded to the student and parent SIS portals. The current quarter will end on October 25 and report cards will be issued on November 1. Students who had previously arranged to receive paper copies of their grade reports will be called down to the office by Mrs. Hill later this afternoon.

Athletics Update
Congratulations to senior, Dylan Hill, on receiving the National Rural and Small School Award by the College Board. To be eligible for this award, a student must have a 3.5 GPA, must attend high school in a rural area or small town, and be in the top 10% of all PSAT/NMSQT test takers in their state.
Dylan has a 100.55% cumulative weighted average and is ranked first in his class. Outside of academics, he is drum major for the Marching Band, has played in Concert Band and Jazz Band, serves as co-captain for the Varsity Soccer team, is a member of the Track & Field team, is president of the National Honor Society, and serves as senior class treasurer. Dylan has been involved with the Leo Club, the Hiking Club, the Environmental Club, and the STRONG student leadership team. He has also earned accolades at the state and world level for Odyssey of the Mind.
Upon graduation, Dylan plans to attend a college/university to study Public Relations. Congratulations, Dylan, on this academic recognition.
