This program is sponsored by the Pennsylvania School Librarian’s Association and gives children a chance to vote on their favorite book each year. School librarians recommend titles that have been popular and the fifteen top choices in each grade category are then nominated for that year’s award program. Children in grades K-3rd and 3rd – 5th then read the titles and vote on their favorites in March. The winning titles are announced each year at the Pennsylvania State Librarian’s Association Conference in April and award labels are given out for the books. Encourage your child to try a “starred” book this year and be part of the voting process!
