The Montgomery Area School District operates a Pre-K program at the Montgomery Area Elementary School for students at least four years of age.   This opportunity is afforded the residents of the district via a Pre-K Counts Grant received by the district.  Pennsylvania’s Pre-K Counts Program, established by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, brings high quality Pre-Kindergarten to 11,800 preschool children in the Commonwealth.  The Pre-K program develops those early literacy skills that predict success for students in school by immersing students in literacy rich environments.  The Mathematics and Science programs engage students in the inquiry-based model of learning.   The curriculum is aligned to the Early Learning Standards.  Research has supported this worthwhile program as evidenced by the fact that students enrolled in this program, statewide, showed significant improvements toward typical levels of performance in early learning competencies.
