A well-known place in Montgomery is The Station House, owned by Joice Knouse. This business has its roots quite deep in the town. The dining room can be described as a very warm place; much like home. Many current high school and college students are employed here. The Station House will have its 33rd anniversary on November 8th, 2017. I had the pleasure of sitting down and talking with Joice.

What made you want to open your owe restaurant?

I wanted the flexibility of my own hours. I wanted to be my own boss. And by owning my own restaurant gave me that.

Do you consider yourself the “people” or the “business” side of this entrepreneurship?

A little bit of both. I’ve come to learn there is a fine line between both and you have to find a good balance.

Being such an established, successful woman, do you have advice for young people today?

Follow your dreams.

If you could go back in time and change anything, would you? Do you have regrets?

No. Just don’t be afraid and do what will make you happy. That’s all that matters.
