This event was begun by the National Education Association to promote the importance of parents and children reading together. Dr. Seuss's birthday was chosen as the national date to celebrate since he was an author who loved children and believed they needed books that were simple and entertaining to encourage them to read. His books have endured and remain a favorite among both children and adults.
Seuss Week is celebrated with decorations, dress up days, birthday cake at lunch, and contests and special events in the library. This years Dr. Seuss Celebration will be held Friday, March 1st during the school day. We will be celebrating with stories and activities in various rooms and a faculty skit of a favorite book. The PTO helps sponsor the event by donating $ for new library books.
