Shelly is an author-adventurer who encourages students to live more and write about it!  Through her true stories of running the 1130 mile Iditarod Sled Race, swimming with Blue Whales in Baja, climbing in ancient temperate rainforests and sailing in Antartica, she inspires kids to their best efforts as readers and writers. Author of more than 20 picture books about Alaska and the world, Shelley emphasizes nature, animals and adventure using stories from her life and visuals like wooly mammoth bones, dog booties and Eskimo yo-yo's to personalize her talk.
